Scottie's Nursery Reveal

I'm so excited to be sharing Scottie's nursery today! Creating this space for her was so much fun and putting it all together will always be one of my favorite memories from my pregnancy. I kept getting asked what the theme of her nursery would be but I didn't really have one. I just knew I wanted it to be light and airy with neutrals, touches of blush pink and gold, and special personal touches. After putting it all together, I jokingly told Colton the theme is "Florals and Furry Friends" because of all the stuffed animals and florals throughout the room. I've included lots of photos below with sources and links to most of the items in the nursery. Please let me know if you have any questions!

I hope you enjoy! :)

We didn't tell anyone Scotlyn's name until she was born and I remember my Aunt Lauren walking into the room and saying there has to be some sort of hint as to what her name is in here! Turns out, we did have a few hints in this corner of the room, including the photo of my dad (Scot, who she was named after) and the Bemis bear (my maiden name) on the glider chair.

Glider: Babies R Us // Ottoman: Babies R Us // Flower Wall Art: c/o Minted // Scalloped Shelves: Land of Nod // Gold End Table: HomeGoods // Gold Basket: Target // Ballerina Doll: Target // Unicorn Head: Target // Baby Sleeping Sign: Aaron Brothers // Pink Blanket: Amazon // Pom Pom Pillow: Pottery Barn Kids
My favorite part of her nursery is the custom "Forever Young" sign above her crib. It's a song that's really special to me, as I grew up listening to it with my dad and grandpa. They passed away in 2012 and every time I walk into her room, I'm reminded of them and some of the lessons they taught me that I hope to pass down to Scottie.

Children's books are so fun and colorful, so I loved the idea of displaying them on floating shelves instead of on a typical bookshelf. Some of my favorite books to read to Scottie are The Wonderful Things You Will BeOn The Night Your Were Born, and Olivia and the Fairy Princesses. The blankets in the baskets below the shelves were made by my great-grandma and Colton's grandma.

I knew I wanted the furniture in the room to be gender neutral so that if/when the time comes, it can also be used for our future children. I swapped out the knobs on the dresser for these crystal ones from Lowe's to give it a feminine touch and match the mirror above it. The framed bear illustration on the dresser was done by Colton's grandma who passed away in January. She loved to paint, so we thought it was a great way to honor and remember her.

I searched Pinterest for ways to organize her closet and came across this blog post which was so helpful! The 8-Cube IKEA Kallax organizer used in the post was too wide for Scottie's closet so we purchased this 6-Cube one from Target which works great if your closet is smaller. We also organized all of her clothes by size with these labeled closet dividers and used these slimline velvet hangers which help to create more space when hanging clothes.

  2. Beautiful room! I'm asking because I'm 27 weeks pregnant with my first - a little as well :)and like to know what others are doing - are you planning on eventually putting a changing pad on the dresser?

    1. Thank you and congrats to you! I totally forgot to mention that but yes we are! She's still sleeping in our room in a bassinet so we have the changing area set up on our dresser until she transitions into her room. It makes it a lot easier for middle of the night diaper changes to have the main changing area in the room baby will be sleeping in. :)

    2. Thanks for the response. I would have never thought to do that, great idea. Our little lady will be in our room for a bit as well, so I'll definitely be doing that! Thx!!

    3. No problem! I hadn't thought of it either until a friend suggested it to me. :) I had no clue how often newborns need diaper changes and it's so much more convenient to not have to leave the room multiples times in the middle of the night. :)
